The Nurse Who Befriends

When the body is broken,

when the spirit is hurt,

when hope is fading,

when friends keep their distance,

when loved ones are drained,

when finances are depleted,

when there is no light left,

when comfort is a memory,

when agony takes hold,

when darkness sinks in,

when pain will not cease,

when doubt is rampant,

when bones do not heal,

when scars do not mend,

when loneliness strangles,


 

the nurse who befriends

means more to recovery

than one thousand stitches.

The nurse who befriends

means understanding.

The nurse who befriends

means everything.

ER Nurses Prayer

Dear God

Bless these hands and make in them an instrument of your will.

 

Give me the power to heal

what can be healed.

 

Strength when I'm

too exhausted to continue.

 

Comfort when healing isn't enough.

 

The wisdom to know the difference.
